The Village Baker is a bakery run by chef Ben Sachse and his wife Tracy, with shops at Black Forest Shopping Centre (Shop 4, 715 South Road) and Burnside Village, Glenside. It makes made-to-order celebration cakes for birthdays and other occasions. As of October 2026 the online cake range includes a Colour Burst rainbow sponge cake from $94, a macaron drip cake from $94, an Oreo cake from $80 and a summer berry jam and cream sponge from $85, plus custom chocolate plaques from $5. Cakes need to be ordered 3 to 5 business days before pick-up, and customers with dietary requirements are asked to contact the bakery directly. Orders can be placed online or by phone; the Black Forest shop is on (08) 8351 4447. The Black Forest shop is open 8am to 5pm weekdays, 8am to 4.30pm Saturday and 9am to 4pm Sunday.
