The Sydney Tramway Museum at the corner of Rawson Avenue and Pitt Street, Loftus, next to Loftus station, is a volunteer-run museum that preserves and operates vintage trams. Visitors can see Sydney trams plus trams from Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Ballarat and overseas cities, and ride along about 4km of track towards Sutherland and the Royal National Park. A ticket covers museum entry and unlimited tram rides. The museum is open Wednesdays 10am to 3pm and Sundays 10am to 5pm. The first tram runs at 10:15am and then hourly; last entry is 2pm on Wednesdays and 3:30pm on Sundays. Allow 2 to 3 hours. As of October 2026, entry is $25 for adults, $20 concession and $12.50 for school children, and pre-school children are free; event days may differ. Families do not need to book, but school and social groups should. A platform helps visitors with limited mobility board the trams.
