Museum of Natural History

Last updated September 2026

The Museum of Natural History in Guildford, run by the Academy of Taxidermy, fills a heritage building on James Street with preserved Australian animals and life-size dinosaur models - a small, quirky museum that dinosaur- and animal-mad kids tend to love. It's a five-minute walk from Guildford train station. It's a look-don't-touch museum, so it suits preschoolers and up best. Some sensitive kids may find the preserved animals confronting. Good to Know Open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-5pm, and 7 days in school holidays. Public holidays too, except Christmas Day. Entry is $10, or $5 for children under 12. Cash only. Guided tours are available for $100 per group.
