Melbourne Star Observation Wheel

Last updated October 2026

120-metre observation wheel in Docklands with 30-minute rides in enclosed, climate-controlled cabins; adults from $29 online.

The Melbourne Star is a 120-metre observation wheel in Docklands, which its operator says is the highest in the Southern Hemisphere. A Classic Spin is one 30-minute rotation in a shared, fully enclosed and climate-controlled cabin, with views over the city and the bay, and it runs rain or shine. There are no height limits; under-11s must ride in the same cabin as their own responsible adult, and under-16s must ride with an accompanying adult. As of October 2026, adult tickets start from $29 online, with walk-up prices about 20% higher and peak pricing on weekends and holidays; child ticket prices are shown only in the booking system. The wheel opens 12pm to 9:30pm Monday and Tuesday, 10am to 9:30pm Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and 10am to 10:30pm Friday and Saturday. Cabins are step-free and wheelchair accessible; prams stay in pram parking at the gift shop. It is in the free tram zone, with parking at The District Docklands.
