Howeston is a family-owned public golf course at 100A Creek Rd, Birkdale, with 27 holes made up of three nine-hole courses. There are no memberships and no bookings needed; you pay and play, and the course welcomes first-time golfers. It is open in daylight hours every day except Christmas Day and New Year's Day, weather permitting. As of October 2026, green fees are $30 on weekdays and $35 on weekends and public holidays, the same for 9 or 18 holes. Golf club hire is $10 to $15 with left and right-handed sets, pull buggies are $5, and electric carts are $30 for 9 holes or $45 for 18. The golf shop sells balls, gloves, food and drinks (no alcohol), and there are toilets, a BBQ shed and tables. There is no water on the course itself.
