Floriade
Last updated October 2026
Free month-long spring flower festival in Commonwealth Park with a million blooms, entertainment and family activities; 2027 dates TBA.
Floriade is Canberra's free spring flower festival, held each year across September and October in Commonwealth Park beside Lake Burley Griffin. More than a million blooms are planted in themed garden beds, with music, art displays, gardening workshops, food stalls and family-friendly activities. Entry is free and needs no registration, though some program events are ticketed, as is the evening NightFest with illuminated gardens. In 2026 it ran from 12 September to 11 October, with gates open 9:30am to 5:30pm (last entry 5:15pm). Floriade returns in 2027 for its 40th anniversary, and dates had not been announced as of October 2026. On weekdays a Sensory Hour from 9:30am to 10:30am has limited amplified sound. Paths suit strollers and wheelchairs, and there is a baby care room with change tables. Free shuttle buses run from the city during the festival, and you can bring your own food.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
